Explore self-massage and myofascial release, a method for relaxing strained muscles using sustained levels of pressure, to whatever degree you find comfortable, in areas of connective tissue surrounding muscles and bone.

How It Works

In this experience, you will be guided through simple myofascial release techniques, targeted stretching, and finally, restorative yoga poses that allow the whole system to relax.

You will be exploring myofascial release; as mentioned, a method for relaxing strained muscles using sustained levels of pressure, to whatever degree you find comfortable, in areas of connective tissue surrounding muscles and bone.

Additionally, you will enjoy some restorative yoga, a passive practice that involves laying on the floor in various positions, often supported by props like pillows and blankets, with the goal of stress/tension reduction, and relaxation.

Participants should prepare for this experience by finding some open floor or wall space and having the following props within reach: a lacrosse or tennis ball, blankets, pillows, a few thick books or yoga blocks, and a little wall space or the back of a sturdy door.

Kristina has always connected to movement as a means for expression, discipline, joy, and mental/emotional regulation. Her formal movement journey began with classical ballet in Georgia, segued into yoga in NYC (2004), and she began teaching in 2010. She loves to learn, therefore many traditions influence her teaching: Intelligent Vinyasa, Iyengar, Physiyoga (the merging of physical therapy techniques and yoga), and meditation. Depending on the class style, you can expect to think and move outside the box, try new things, or try old things in a new way. Kristina’s sequencing is both creative and smart, rooted in biomechanics, with a mixture of precision and exploration. She also has a deep appreciation for mindfulness practices like restorative yoga and sound baths. She leads sound meditations using singing bowls, gongs, and chimes with the goal of diving into the subtlety of listening. There is a time to move big and a time to get quiet; Kristina’s practice over the years has been to listen to which one will bring balance to daily life.
