How It Works

Your host, Shahane, will show you the fundamentals of hand-building for a ninety minute workshop. Clay is a living, breathing element. Learning to work with a natural material to make unique and useful items is a therapeutic experience that creates space for you connect. 

During this experience, you will learn how to handle clay and make pinch pots with a professional ceramicist from Feet of Clay studio in Brookline.  Each participant will receive a kit in advance of this experience, including enough air-dry clay to make three ceramic pieces and a tool kit of commonly used hand building accessories that can be reused to create additional pots, dishes, and planters after the experience is over.

Shahane first started working with clay in 2009 and hasn't stopped since. She graduated with her BFA from Alfred University in 2015 and has been working on her craft since at Feet of Clay. The founding principles of herbodies of work are to bring people back to nature and simultaneously bring some extra joy and happiness to the world. Growing up in New England inspired Shahane to immerse herself in nature, which directly influences her work. She has recently broadened her horizons past the New England area and tries to capture the essence and beauty of this vast world!
