Mei Mei is a farm-focused Boston restaurant that three siblings started as a family food truck in 2012. The Li siblings’ grandparents were restaurateurs who owned and operated a vibrant Chinese-American restaurant in White Plains, New York. Mei Mei, (pronounced may-may) means little sister in Chinese. Chef Irene Li, 6-time James Beard nominee and the littlest mei mei, is now at the helm of the Boston headquarters and restaurant. Under Chef Irene’s leadership, Mei Mei uses sustainable and humane practices to source ingredients, creates high-quality jobs, and gives back to the Boston community in a myriad of ways.
